Google & Other Search Engines Found Indexing Links to Private WhatsApp Groups

It has been discovered that search engines, including Google, are indexing invites to personal groups on WhatsApp.

A journalist named Jordan Wildon made this discovery and shared the subsequent information on Twitter:
Your WhatsApp groups might not be as secure as you think they're .
The feature of “Invite to Group through Link” allows groups to be indexed by Google crawler and they are generally available across the internet. With some wildcard search terms you'll easily find some more interesting groups.”
Google & Other Search Engines Found Indexing Links to personal WhatsApp Groups Any link to a WhatsApp group that was shared outside of a personal message could be found in Google. Users could follow the links to affix the group. The fact that the links were shared publicly is what lead Google to indexing the content in search results. Google’s Danny Sullivan acknowledged this on Twitter, saying:
“Search engine as like Google & others, list the pages from the open web. That’s totally what’s happening here. It’s no difference in any case where a site allows URLs to be publicly listed.”

Sullivan also noted that there are tools available to stop the content from being listed in search results.
It appears that somebody from WhatsApp must have utilized said tools, because the thousands of links to WhatsApp groups have since been removed from Google.

While these links are removed from Google, they’re still available to be found in search engines like Bing, DuckDuckGo, etc.. Apparently, this issue has been happening for months. It wasn’t until a piece of writing was published by Vice that any action was taken.
To be sure, only WhatsApp is answerable for this issue. Search engines are getting to crawl and index what's publicly available, so this can be not the fault of Google or other search engines.
